International Women's Day!

Today is International Women's Day and you can find me over on the Influence Network Blog celebrating some of my favorite women of power.

Also, in celebration of today, fashionABLE (the crew I worked with for Pixie Project to take 6 women out of prostitution!) has free shipping all day on their scarves.  Each purchase of a scarf literally changes a life!

:: Before purchasing your scarf -- here's some info you'll want to know ::

//  According to the United Nations Development Program Human Development Report, women in Africa represent 52% of the total population, contributing approximately 75% of the agricultural work and producing 60-80% of the food. Despite these statistics, women earn only 10% of African incomes and own just 1% of the continent's assets.

//  Your purchase of a fashionABLE scarf creates sustainable business in Africa. fashionABLE is committed to long-term solutions to fighting poverty, and their main focus is creating opportunities for vulnerable women. That means that your purchase of a scarf creates jobs.

//  The fashionABLE mission is to create sustainable business in Africa so that the women are not dependent upon charity, but instead are a vital part of a developing economy. We understand that economic security for women equals greater overall security and safety in their life, and better educational opportunities for their children, and more. It also means we buy looms from local business, help build a factory, hire contractors, construction workers, buy materials from local businesses, purchase cotton from farmers, employ cotton spinners, hire trainers for our weavers, employ weavers, hire accountants, hire a business manager, purchase packing materials for shipment from local companies, ship through local logistics companies...the list goes on & on!
