Life Lately | Showered

So we aren't moved in quite yet to the new part of the house, but I did pretend we were this past Saturday morning (my due date) and took a 30 minute shower in our new master bathroom.  It was one of my most favorite showers ever.  Yup, I decided that why shouldn't showers have superlatives!  Of course I loved it because I love the subway tile and the rain water faucet.  I love the window that I opened to let the [sneak peak] of fall crisp weather in.  I love what a labor of love it was to create this shower.  But here's the moment I really loved...

I'm in the shower, you know, showering, and David knocks on the door needing a measurement.  He sneaks in and trys to be in an out quickly without notice.  However, M has already fallen in love with this new water world haven and pushes in right behind him.  "I want bath! I want water!"  As we giggle at and try to wrangle her away from the shower (because as this point we don't have up glass or any sort of curtain - its still an open shower) who else decides to barge in, but our 7-year-old French Bulldog, Oscar.  Not only does he invite himself into the bathroom, but walks straight on into the shower!

So now I'm standing in the shower, a full 40 weeks pregnant, with my dog, watching my husband chase a wiggly squealy super cute 2-year-old around the bathroom.

Oh! I laughed so hard I almost cried.  There in that shower, where I had gone for escape and quiet and the therapy of steamy warm water on my tired body, I instead was gifted with a glimpse of my beautiful life -- a moment in time that reflected all the goodness, grace, and mercy I have been afforded.  My heart flooded with joy and thankfulness.  I came undone to myself and in the first time in what felt like weeks or maybe months,  I felt washed of all my worries, stress, and fatigue.  It was the shower my soul needed.

  6. This is so beautiful to me, just how you took in the whole moment and enjoyed the life you are blessed with. Because honestly, I would have been annoyed. My showers are like a holy grail to me and I get very aggravated when I have intruders. Love your heart!!!

  9. Have you read the children's book Five Minutes Peace? Well, someone else must have had the same experience you had and wrote a book about it!
