Baby Watch

baby bump: 36 1/2 weeks

For all you on baby watch we are still holding steady.  Due date is in less than 4 weeks.  I'm going to the doc every week now and things are right on target.  Every time I go in I tell myself they will for sure tell me that I'll go early.  But no.  They even warn me that I could go late... just like last time.  My goal this time is to avoid pitocin, so if I can just manage that I'm fine with him hanging in there.  Heart rate, weight gain, size... everything is healthy and on target.  So thankful for that.

I will say that pregnancy is kicking my booty.  I diagnosed myself with SPD and confirmed it with my OB... i don't even remember what the initials stand for because it really is nothing to be alarmed by and won't affect my labor or anything else long term, but basically... my pelvic muscles and ligaments went overboard on the "softening & loosening" part of pregnancy and they fail to keep my pelvic bone completely aligned.  Joy of joys it freaking hurts.  Like - all. the. time.  Crossing my legs, getting out of the car, rolling over in bed, walking, etc. etc.  SO... I now wear my newest accessory most of the day, my maternity support belt.  And it really does help.

Contractions?  All the time.  Getting so used to them I wonder if I'll even know when I go into labor.

Bedtime.  I dread it.  I have a fortress of pillows.  But I am learning just how to be to avoid both the pelvic pain and heart burn.

The worst of it right now is my dripping tingling aching face.  Yup.  Duh - perfect timing for a head cold. (I'm taking myself to bed right now!)

Sorry for all the complaining and attitude.  Things are what they are and I am in fact doing great.  I'm so thankful to be healthy and have the privilege of carrying this little nugget boy.

  2. Getting so close! This is my first pregnancy (32 weeks) and boy do things loosen up for baby! I never imagined my hips being so dang sore, not fun. I also want to avoid pitocin as I've heard its the devil. Hoping for a healthy and quick delivery for you.

  5. Oh my goodness, yes! I'm in my third trimester and my last complaint to the midwife was feeling like I've been kicked in my lady part! It's exactly the things you describe (get out of the car, turning over, walking, etc). My midwife suggested a support belt too, I may have to break down and get one. So sorry you're sick. Hope it passes quickly!

  7. Gah! There is a name for the hip pain?!?
I think my doctor thinks I am being a baby but mine is extreme! I seriously could not walk all weekend. My left hip feels like it is being pulled out of its socket at all times and I walk with a full on limp! I was reading some posts where women were saying they had to use crutches or a cane at the end of pregnancy. I'm about to say sign me up!!! :)

    1. yuck! so... mine isn't really my hip, ... more like my pelvic floor. here is a link to SPD... see if it fits you. but ya, my doc acknowledged my symptoms & pain, but there wasn't anything to be alarmed by as much as it sucks. just is one of those things. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphysis_pubis_dysfunction
although... maybe it is hip too?
