a mi casa

um... last few days here at mi casa... muy terrible!  Let me take you back to last Tuesday... I'm having a very productive day.  I've gone to women's group and gotten lots of work done.  D volunteers on Wednesday afternoon giving art lessons at a shelter and while he was gone M and I picked out a recipe, went to the grocery store, and came home and started cooking some Mexican Lasagna...

For the most part -- super easy.  I got it all ready to bake and even made a small one to bring to a friend who would be having a baby in a few days.  I got it all into the dish and wrapped and set it aside to bake in a few hours when we were ready for dinner.  We cleaned the kitchen (I know... cooked and cleaned -- I was quite astonished with myself too!) and got a few more things done.  The three of us went on a walk ... yatta yatta... put it in the oven... ate it & loved it!  Still feeling pretty good about myself that I did something once (prepped, cooked, and cleaned) that a lot of women to every single day...

We go to bed.  Wednesday rolls around.  David has it for lunch.  Three hours later... he is sick... five hours later he is really sick.  I have no thought to accuse my awesome lasagna as the culprit.  I had it for dinner...

After I ate dinner, M and I head to church without David... I get there and have to leave early to go help  David.  He feels the sickest he has ever felt.  I help him and get M to bed.  Feeling okay and hoping that my tummy pains are just psychosomatic.  I go to bed...wake up a couple hours later.  Yup.  Me too.

We call in reinforcements (thank you moms!!!!!).  We are sick as a dog.  Praying to Jesus arms out stretched sick.  Crying sick.   Thats as much detail as I'll give you.  By Saturday I was better, just low energy -- but man it was rough!  Poor David now has a chest cold or something so he got the one two punch.  Thank the sweet Lord Magnolia is not sick at all.  Seriously -- thank Him!

Anywhoo... the moral of the story is.  Don't add ground turkey to this recipe.  Or really -- never ever eat the stuff.  We won't be!

the scripture I kept hearing while sick (which i had just studied with my 6th graders):
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe. prov 18:10
He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge. prov 14:26
