Q: Tell us about the name  of your shop and blog.

A:  Rouge & Whimsy came from a few places. I have red hair and love France-- so rouge, which is French for red, seemed to make sense and at first that's what I thought the name would be. But I love pairing two words together--like wild & precious--and whimsy seemed like a great word to describe my crafty antics on my blog and fun accessories in my shop.

Q: What are your muses?

A:  I find inspiration everywhere-- my problem is more finding time to go through with it! Right now my inspiration comes the 1930s and 20s. Hats with feathers, tulle veils and beading. My accessories are a call back to those times. My mom is also one of my biggest muses--every time I come up with something I run it past her.

Q:  If you could see one of your accessories on any two celebrities, who would you pick? 

A:  I can totally see my hair clips or headbands on the singer Adele. She definitely that vintage vibe and style. And I could see my hippie headbands on Taylor Swift-- accenting her wavy blond locks in one of her music videos.

Q: What is your favorite thing about blogging?

A:  I love to write and always have. My day job is actually blogging, writing and editing for a real estate website so it's funny that I still want to blog when I come home but it's different. It's an outlet for me, a way to share my ideas with others. And on the flip side I absolutely love to read blogs. I love the little snippets of life I get from them-- I constantly inspired by other people.

Q: What is your earliest memory of crafting?

A:  Oh my gosh I have no idea. I can't honestly remember a time I haven't crafted or created something. I know as a little girl I made my stuffed animals clothes out my mom's fabric scraps-- perhaps that was the very beginning.

Q:  Favorite musician, candy, movie, and drink.

A:  I love Ingrid Michaelson-- my husband and I had our first dance to her song "The Way I Am."  Candy would have to be Theo's chocolate. If you love chocolate you NEED to check their bars out.  And coffee, hands down, wins for my favorite drink. A cup of GOOD drip with a splash of half & half in the morning. Nothing can beat it.
