a hairy situation

I've had really long hair... and some pretty short hair.  I'm an impulsive hair cutter.  I might go in and plan on a trim, and then cut off several inches.  Twice, I have cut my hair for Locks of love.  The first time, I cut off 10.5 inches.  The second time I cut off 8 (two days after cutting off two).  I love what Locks of Love does.  My senior year in college we had to buy my best friend two real hair wigs as she went through chemo.  Of course it is something I've been excited to support.  However....

even though the first time I cut my locks was over 3 years ago... I still have BOTH pony tails in my closet.  Go ahead and let out a big GROSS!  I mentioned that I'm horrible about getting mail out!  So... I vow ,this week, to send my 18.5 inches into Locks of Love!

Have any of y'all ever done Locks of Love?  Are you an impulsive hair cutter?

btw - i'm still missing a post.  it is in drafts, but am i supposed to republish it? pretty fed up with how little blogger has communicated. am i supposed to so something?

  2. I'm definitely an impulsive hair cutter! Just as it gets long, I start seeing shorter styles I want to try. I haven't done locks of love in about 10 years though...maybe it would be a good goal to keep me from chopping it!

  4. No, I am kind of boring when it comes to my hair. I never had short hair, because I am scared of hairdressers haha. I love your hair short!

  5. I want to do Locks of Love eventually. I've been growing my hair out since high school. It grows REALLY slow, and I have always wanted my hair to be long when I get married. (Not even engaged yet, but definitely anticipating it soon!)Once I'm married, I plan on cutting enough off to send to Locks of Love :)

You're so lucky, you look great with long AND short hair!

  6. I could never grow my hair that long but I am an impulsive hair cutter! A few weeks ago hubs went out of town on business and when he came back my hair was 6 inches shorter. I was just bored one day and decided to chop it off lol.

  16. Ha! I cut off my hair years ago and still have the locks-meaning to donate it but never remembered. I am definitely a longed hair gal now though. Nothing beats feeling so feminine with it. But your face looks amazing with short hair!

  17. I am such an impulsive hair cutter. I mean, I WAS. My husband is more attached to my hair than I am and makes me promise not to cute too short when I go to the hair salon.
You look great with long hair and SO adorable with short hair!!! I wish I could pull both dos off like you do!!!

  19. yay for you! what a great thing to do.

i once cute several inches off my hair in 8th grade and my stupid boyfriend broke up with me because of it!!!

i had short hair for many years, but now it's longer and getting longer every day... it's just easier and i don't have to wash it as much- which sounds backwards from what i might have thought...

  20. I can be an impulsive hair cutter! My hair is a bit more than waist length right now, and I really need a trim... can't decide whether I should cut it or not.

  21. I am also a very impulsive hair cutter. Sometimes I love that about me, sometimes I hate it. lol

and yeah, that is a little gross.

You look cute with both...and a little silly with that armpit hair.

  22. Oh wow! I've never done locks of love. I've been an impulsive hair-everything.... hair cutter, hair dyer. My hair is FINALLY long again after battling it to grow. I love the length now, and I don't think I'll be cutting it any time soon. I'm just loving this way too much.

  24. When I used to practice ballet a friend of mine passed away from leukimia. I vowed that every chance I got I would donate hair...figured it was the least I could do after seeing her struggle with her hair growth after chemo. I have donated 4 times since my junior year in high school. The first time I donated it was 14 inches, and has ranged between that and ten inches since. It truly is something I decided a long time ago that would be such a small thing to me but such a big thing to someone else. My goal is to at least donate 8 times in my life because it takes 6-8 donations to make one wig.

  25. I am a hairstylist and I know of a girl who came into the salon to get her hair cut for locks of love and then she ended up leaving it in a manila envelope in her car for a while. Her car was broken into some time later and the only thing stolen was the envelope of hair! Weird!!!

  26. i have had many hair lenghts & styles in my life too... :) & soon i will be cutting mine to donate too!! it's pretty long! yay!!

  27. I love how nice all of these comments are and I was ready to be all "ok that's a little bit nasty" so ok ok...you look great with either length and that's true! I suspect Baby will go along with short hair? no hair pulling perhaps? easier? It's what I'm told anyways...
