Craft Time

I finally got around to trying my hand at a yarn & felt wreath. It was actually really fun...

The wreath form was the hardest thing to find, mostly because the styrofoam ones are pretty expensive and all I could find were huge ones.  I wanted to start smaller and cheaper.  I ended up using one of those green flower bases -- found it in the fake flower section of Michael's, go figure!  It was several dollars cheaper.  In addition to the form, I think I ended up using 5 sheets of felt and only a 1/4 of my yarn skien.  It's a fairly inexpensive project, just takes time... and although I like my finished product, I would say it definitely takes practice.  Here's a lady with some real skill: Handmade Colectibles!  I can't even begin to wrap my mind around how she makes those flowers!

  10. Yours looks good. I just made one last week and I did the same thing--found one over at the garden section of Michael's because the ones that were Styrofoam were not even a full circle (plus the green foam ones were less expensive).

How did you make your felt flowers? Did you follow a tutorial?

I love making wreaths--it's my new favorite gift to give :)
