Etsy Feature: Madeline Wood {& a coupon code!}

One of my good friends from Texas sent me word of one her neighbor's online shop.  Once I saw it, I immediately wanted to share it with you.  I think her designs are classic, yet have a modern flair that sets them apart from what you can find at regular retailers.

Meet Rachel, the designer behind Madeline Wood:

Q: When did you start designing clothes? Who did you learn from?

A:  Well I started designing my line after I graduated from the University of North Texas in 2004 with a BFA in Fashion Design. When I was younger my grandmother and I would have sewing dates. At this time I began to learn about garment construction and really wanted to learn how to make clothes with out looking like I did them.

Q: What/who are your muses?

A:  I love vintage clothing from 1920 -1950s. I am always amazed at the details on each garment. Always gives me lots of ideas. As far as people... I don't really have a specific person. I love street fashion and people watching. Love to see what people are wearing.

Q: If you could dress any celebrity, who would it be?

A:  I would love to dress, Zooey Deschanel, Amy Adams or Drew Barrymore... sorry is that ok if I have three?

Q: Best tip for someone interested in fashion design? 

A:  I would say get some good training in construction, pattern making and fit, learn to sew. I think all this very valuable to learn and understand for anyone who wants to design clothing.
