Q: When did you first learn to crochet? 

A:  When I was six years old, we went on a camping trip with our church. Early one morning while everyone was planning the next exhaustive hike, I befriended an older lady at the camp fire who was staying behind to crochet. Now I can't recall whether I was all that interested or whether I didn't want to go hiking that day but I stayed behind and learned to crochet. I loved it and couldn't concentrate on anything else the whole trip.

On the ride home, my mom commented on how that lady was Bill Walton's mom and how nice of her to take time to teach me. To that I responded "Bill who?"

Q: How is your personal style reflected in the items you create?

A:  I like things cozy and comfy while still being simplistic.

Q: Any favorite music you listen to or other customs you have when crafting?

A: Sadly, being the mother of three young kids and living through a remodel, it is impossible to have real rituals for crafting. Before I had kids it was a fresh pot of coffee, a rainy day and the Sabrina with Harrison Ford on the tv.

Q: Do you have an early memory of crafting as a child? 

A: One thing I vividly remember about my childhood is not wanting to be at school because it was so BORING. I all too often played sick from school and got into my Mom's crafting closet and rummaged through her supplies. I remember randomly cutting pieces of fabric, laying them out on my dolls and sewing up a haphazard dress on my Mom's trusty sewing machine. Or getting into the yarn and creating random granny square pot holders. Those were the best days. Now as a Mom myself, I can look at my carefully intended crafts in piles upstairs and see why it irked her.
