Wiggles {Michigan}

michigan
MI coast

David and I (other than our mission trip to Honduras) did not really get to have a vacation this summer. That is part of the reason I am happy for it to be done and over with for the year. We are cooking up a vacation plan for this fall though -- which, seeing my love affair with this season, seems like a better fit anyway. Our exotic location?... Michigan! Yes, you heard me right, Michigan. My boss laughed when I told her, but hey, I'm pretty excited. Everything is tentative right now, but a few things on the agenda: a couple nights in a B&B on Lake Michigan, visiting family in Ann Arbor, riding some new friends' segways in Plymouth and visiting their chocolate shop, hopefully meeting my bloggy friend Meg, and perhaps attending Rob Bell's Church in Grandville. I've never been to the Wolvorine State, so I'm pretty excited. Do you live or have you visited Michigan? What should I do, see, eat?

  10. aaa i LOVE Michigan! It is soooo gorgeous, especially this time of year (not so much in the winter ha). The lake is beautiful. The peaches and blueberries are the best ever (although they are probably going out of season) although the apples are coming in right now. And make sure to get ICE CREAM, Mackinac Fudge flavor :)

  32. My fiance is from Michigan and we went there last fall actually! It was sosososo pretty :) If you can make it up to the Mackinaw bridge/island I would totally do that. It was so pretty! And so fun to ride the ferry to the island.

  33. Oh loverly! We lived in Michigan for five years...in fact...I have a very cheap and charming house if you are interested in owning a little bit of a tiny town...

    Definitely Mars Hill.
    Definitely the west side of the state.
    Grand Haven.
    Traverse City
    and if you are that far, then most definitely Mackinack Island and Mackinaw City fudge.
    And antiques. Anywhere and everywhere...
    And walk the bridge. The locals think it's God's front porch.

    It's a beautiful place and a perfect time of year for it!
